Refrigerator energy consumption new version 2015 standard IEC 62552 series

The new version of the 2015 standard IEC 62552 series for refrigerator energy consumption replaces the original IEC 62552: 2007 version. This series of standards was released in February 2015 and has completely revised all the terms and content.

The new standard is divided into three parts:

IEC 62552-1: 2015: General requirements, including scope, definition, installation and setup of laboratory instruments and tested products.

IEC 62552-2: 2015: Performance Requirements

IEC 62552-3: 2015: Energy consumption and volume

The main differences between the new standard 2015 and the old standard 2007 are as follows:

1. The load pack is no longer placed in the freezer compartment for power consumption testing, and copper cylindrical thermocouples are used to measure the compartment temperature. The placement of thermocouples in non freezer compartments has undergone significant changes;

2. The test environment conditions were changed from 25 degrees Celsius to conduct tests at 16 degrees Celsius and 32 degrees Celsius respectively, and the weighted calculation of annual electricity consumption was finally carried out;

3. Change the stability judgment rules for testing, with testing cycles ranging from 6 hours to several days; There is a more detailed classification and explanation of defrosting types and defrosting intervals, and the total power consumption extends the energy consumption increment of defrosting cycles to 24 hours;

4. There have been significant changes in the requirements and calculation methods for interpolation, with the addition of calculation methods for 3-point and multi-point interpolation;

5. Added tests for placing loads and accumulated this energy consumption into the final power consumption;

6. Clear regulations have also been made for the energy consumption calculation and testing of anti condensation heaters and automatic ice makers, and this energy consumption has been accumulated into the final power consumption;

7. The total volume measurement has undergone significant changes and there is no longer a need to test the gross volume;

8. There have been significant changes in the packaging method for storage temperature and freezing capacity testing, and the type of test package is only 50mm * 100mm * 100mm;

9. Increase temperature requirements for sporadic level rooms (0-STAR) and food rooms (Pantry);

10. Added the product type of wine cabinet;

11. Added cooling capacity test for the refrigeration compartment;

12. Added a pull down test for cooling.

At present, multiple countries and regions (Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, China, etc.) are working on applying this standard to their own countries and regions as the latest refrigerator energy consumption testing method. It is believed that the application of this standard will gradually expand in the near future.
