Introduction to UL Certification

UL is an independent, non-profit professional organization that conducts tests for public safety. UL was founded in 1894 and initially relied on funding from the fire insurance department to maintain operations. It was not until 1916 that UL became fully independent. After nearly a century of development, UL has become a world-renowned certification body with a complete set of rigorous organizational management system, standard development, and product certification procedures. UL is managed by a board of directors composed of representatives from safety experts, government officials, consumers, education, utilities, insurance, and standards departments, with daily work handled by the President and Vice President. At present, UL has five laboratories in the United States, headquartered in Northbrook Town, north of Chicago, and has set up corresponding laboratories in Taiwan, China and Hong Kong respectively. UL stands for Underwriter Laboratories Inc. in English. The UL Safety Testing Institute is an authoritative institution in the United States and a relatively large private organization engaged in safety testing and certification in the industry. It is an independent, non-profit professional organization that conducts experiments for public safety. It adopts scientific testing methods to study and determine whether various materials, devices, products, equipment, buildings, etc. are harmful to life and property, and the degree of harm; Determine, write, and distribute corresponding standards and materials that help reduce and prevent damage to life and property, while conducting fact finding research. In short, it mainly engages in product safety certification and business safety certification, with the aim of providing the market with products with a considerable level of safety and contributing to ensuring personal health and property safety. In terms of product safety certification as an effective means of eliminating technical barriers to international trade, UL also plays a positive role in promoting the development of international trade.

UL certification process

We are UL Witness Free Laboratory, which means that UL engineers do not need to come to our laboratory to observe the testing. Our laboratory will issue a report within two weeks, submit it to UL, and then arrange for factory inspection. If it passes, evidence can be obtained. This cycle takes about a month from the time you submit the complete information.
If there is anything else you need to know, please see my personal information and contact me.

UL certification mark

The use of UL's listing, grading, and approval marks on or in connection with products is a method designated by UL to distinguish products produced under UL's tracking inspection services. The appearance of a company's name on UL's product catalog does not necessarily mean that all of its products are listed, graded, or recognized by UL. Only products bearing the UL mark can be considered as products produced under UL's tracking inspection services.
For different types of services provided by UL, the UL mark can be divided into three categories: listing, grading, and accreditation marks. The important components of these marks are the UL logo symbols, which are all registered trademarks of UL. The three symbols are used for products of three different services and cannot be mixed, otherwise they can be considered counterfeit products. Due to the rarity of classification marks in China, only two types of marks, namely listing and recognition, will be introduced below. UL's services are not only based on the US UL standards, but also on the Canadian standards (C-UL). Therefore, the UL mark is divided into three types: for UL products and C-UL products, as well as for both,
Note: Prior to January 2008, products listed or recognized by both UL and C-UL could have both UL and C-UL markings affixed. However, by 2008, the markings in the third column of the table above must be used.
The "Inspection Rules" specify which type of mark you are allowed to use and which position this mark should be attached to the product. This logo can only be used if the manufacturer complies with the provisions of the "Inspection Rules" and the terms of the "Tracking Inspection Service Agreement". Unless permitted by the "Inspection Rules", the UL logo cannot be used in any way on products or packaging. (Paragraph 3).
If your product is under one of UL's services and meets UL's requirements, UL allows you to use the UL logo and the name U in your promotional or advertising materials, but this reference must not create a false impression that leads the public. A simple quote stating that a product is "Listed By UL" or "Recognized By UL", or a graphic of the UL logo, is appropriate depending on the service category it belongs to; The words and phrases of the product logo you use should be consistent with those stated in the "Inspection Rules". When your product belongs to UL's classification service, the reference words related to UL in your advertisement must quote the full text of the product classification mark, as stated in the "Inspection Rules". Because UL may require you to change inappropriate places in your promotional or advertising, could you please contact your UL inspection representative in advance and inform them of the way you intend to use the UL logo or name. This can avoid misunderstandings and also prevent the waste caused by UL considering inappropriate references in advertisements and revoking promotional and advertising. (Clause 4).
