Bluetooth BQB authentication

Introduction to BQB Certification

In short, if your product has Bluetooth functionality and is labeled with the Bluetooth logo on its appearance, it must pass a certification called BQB. The Bluetooth Certification Body (BQB) is a group authorized by BQRB to provide services to members who need to obtain Bluetooth product certification. Members can directly obtain authentication services through BQB. BQB is responsible for checking statements and documents that do not comply with specifications, evaluating product testing reports, and listing products in the official database of Bluetooth authorized products. BQB must be a member of Bluetooth SIG or an employee of Bluetooth SIG. BQB is an independent entity and does not need to be affiliated with testing agencies or manufacturers.

BQB certification classification

BQB certification is divided into BQB column name and BQB testing certification.

BQB listing, also known as EPL listing, refers to the listing form of Bluetooth BQB certification. For example, if the Bluetooth module has already passed BQB certification, the Bluetooth speaker product does not need to reapply for BQB certification. As long as authorization is obtained from the module supplier, the product can be uploaded to the BQB website in the form of listing
Information provided: For EPL listing, company information (name, address, contact person, contact information, enterprise email), product model, and registered username and password are required

Principles for EPL Listing Series Application
Require the product to be the same (Bluetooth speaker and Bluetooth keyboard cannot be made together), and the Bluetooth module should be the same. On this basis, different functions can also be considered as a series

Starting from February 1st, 2014, EPL listing will be implemented and SIG will be charged. There are two situations:

One is free: the original module was applied for by Company A, and now the finished product is also applied for by Company A, so this situation is free

There are two types of fees, divided into three situations

1. As a non annual membership, purchasing the right to use a QDID that requires EPL will give you your own DID, which costs $8000 each (can be applied for by series)

2: Annual membership fee, as above, costs $4000 per member (models can be applied by series)

3: Starting from February 1st, the discount within one and a half years (i.e. 18 months) is: for those who have never applied for BQB or EPL before and have an annual turnover of less than $1 million (can be declared), the fee is $2500 per unit (can apply for models by series)

Attention: When applying for BQB or EPL listing, the company information needs to be consistent with the inspection information. Previously, only foreign customs were verifying, but now SIG has reached an agreement with Chinese customs to verify whether BQB has been applied for when shipping from Chinese customs.

BQB testing and certification

The Bluetooth Certification Testing Facility (BQTF) is officially recognized by BQRB and is capable of completing the identification of "Class A" Bluetooth certification consistency testing in the Test Case Reference List (TCRL). The authoritative description of the BQTF role can be found in section 4.3.3 of the Bluetooth Authentication Program Reference Document (PRD). Members can directly use BQTF for testing services. Usually, BQTF can also provide additional Bluetooth testing services.
Capability Areas

1. RF consistency testing, including RF, baseband, and physical testing specifications.
2. Protocol and profile consistency testing, including baseband, link management, L2CAP, and profile consistency testing specifications.
The consistency testing capability of BQTF can refer to the page on test instance status and capability. For information on BQTF certification processing and standards, please refer to the BQTF applicant page.
Qualification authorization

The task of a Bluetooth Technology Assessor (BTA) is to represent the Bluetooth Certification and Evaluation Board (BQRB) in evaluating the technical capabilities of testing agencies appointed for Bluetooth consistency testing and later authorized by Bluetooth SIG as Bluetooth certification testing equipment (BQTF).
The steps and standards for becoming an authorized BTA are explained on the BTA application page.

What is QDID number

The so-called QDID number refers to the registration number that must be applied for when applying for Bluetooth BQB certification.
