The list of substances of high concern (SVHC) under the EU REACH regulation has increased to 181 items

On January 15, 2018, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) added seven substances, including benzo [a] anthracene, to the REACH SVHC list and added the environmental endocrine disrupting properties of the existing substance bisphenol A (BPA). At this point, the REACH SVHC list has been updated to 181 items.

SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern) refers to substances of high concern, as defined in Article 57 of the EU REACH regulation, which have hazardous characteristics and are of high concern. The Chinese manufacturing industry, including toys, electronic appliances, textiles and leather, machinery and equipment, metal surface treatment, rubber and plastic products, coatings, precious metal production and other enterprises in the supply chain, often receives SVHC requirements from importers or downstream buyers.

Bisphenol A has been added to the SVHC substance list due to its endocrine disrupting properties, which may pose a threat to the environment and human health. This update aims to add its hazardous properties.

The SVHC of this list was first published on October 28, 2008 and last updated on January 15, 2018. This list is referred to as the candidate list for all substances added by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). Bisphenol A has been added to the SVHC substance list due to its endocrine disrupting properties, which may pose a threat to the environment and human health. This update aims to add its hazardous properties.

As one of the earliest domestic companies to enter the European market, Jiaxing Haitang Electronics has long recognized the importance of environmental protection in its products. All products comply with the EU REACH regulation and do not contain harmful substances listed as SVHC. At present, Haitang Electronics' CAT7 Class 7, CAT7A Super Class 7, and subsequent CAT8 high-end network cable products have successfully entered the foreign market and enjoy high praise internationally. In terms of performance, it has reached the same level as international brands such as CommScope, Anpu, Simon, and Prysmian, and has a significant price advantage.

The following is the classification of REACH SVHC hazardous substance list:

(1) According to EU Directive 67/548/EEC, it is classified as a carcinogen, teratogen, and reproductive toxic substance in Class 1 and Class 2. This directive will soon be replaced by the EU 1272/2008/EC (Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Chemicals and Mixtures, also known as CLP Regulation), which classifies the above-mentioned hazardous substances as 1a and 1b in the new regulation.

(2) Persistent, Bioaccumulation, Toxic Substances (PBT) and Strong Persistent and Strong Bioaccumulation Substances (vPvB) determined in accordance with Annex XIII of the REACH Regulation.

(3) Other substances with proven cases of serious harm to humans and the environment, such as endocrine disruptors.
